Apex predators and Nutrient Dynamics

Apex predators play a crucial role in ecosystems by controlling prey population densities directly through consumption or indirectly through the instillation of fear. The removal of top predators leads to an overabundance of fearless prey populations such as herbivores that have a significant impact on vegetation and the subsequent nutrient pool and soil fauna. My PhD investigates the impacts of the removal of dingoes leading to overabundant kangaroo populations on vegetation and nutrient dynamics and soil fauna communities.
